More story research: Carta Marina, Olaus Magnus, 1539. A sea map depicting the Nordic and some of the Baltic countries; Wikipedia has a wonderful high-res version of this map. The proportions are wonky especially when it comes to inland areas, but I would guess my home area is somewhere above the lake located on top left side of the SCRICFINIA text.

There is also a curious character called Tengild Rex Scricfinor depicted both on the map and a separate drawing, according to the Wikipedia page “going into battle with Arngrimm, allied with the king of Denmark, and his men.”
